With all the wedding DJs in Myrtle Beach alone, there’s got to be plenty of great stories out there. Go Larry! We’re very interested in reading the book!
I’ve owned a copy of Peter Merry’s book since its first printing, and highly recommend it to anyone planning a reception. Not all the elements of the book are things I’d adopt in my programming, but its still a benchmark reference book for interactive DJs and non-cheesy wedding professionals alike!
I agree, Peter’s book is a superb reference. As far as the elements therein, they’re also references and can be drawn upon or not, in accordance with the wishes of the Bride and Groom. The Reception Plan that will be crafted for any wedding should uniquely reflect their personal style (and not ours). Of course some routines more than others we, as individuals, will be more inclined and capable of presenting effectively.
Looking forward to reading mainly the “anecdotes.” You know most of us “DJs” are convinced we already know everything, but real life accounts, (when they’re not egotistic!) should prove interesting if not downright amusing.
Relating these stories without our egos rearing their heads will be a challenge for most folks in our profession. Many of the most egotistic individuals I’ve ever met fancy themselves to be the world’s best Disc Jockey! But, it’s the circumstances surrounding the stories that in itself should be fun to read about.
This is an AWESOME idea! I just hope any mention of my foibles is covered with anonymity (like they do on COPS, with the black mask covering the faces of them that don’t wanna be ID’d. More so: I do hope there aren’t that many foibles of mine floating around…
This book idea will really help me better my own performances. I look forward to the collection!
Thanks Larry!

Listened to your recorded sample of the first dance with the bride and groom’s vows. Very well-executed, effective and impressive. Inspiring! http://weddingsfantastic.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/LoveOfMyLife.mp3
